One Word for You… PLASTIC

If you remember the classic film “The Graduate,” you’ll remember that classic line, delivered to Benjamin (Dustin Hoffman) to identify the field that would secure his future and fortune.

Well, it might not guarantee that it’ll contribute to massive estates, but the Nebraska-Iowa District Foundation has been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century – they now accept PLASTIC.

That’s right, Visa and MasterCard now are legal tender at Foundation events, covering everything from Life, to Star Life and Bartlett memberships. At the urging of Foundation officials and with a little help from banking friends, the move now makes it possible for Kiwanians not packing cash or checkbooks to partake of Foundation memberships and events.

“I’m really excited about being able to offer credit card sales,” said Foundation President Mary Langdon. “It provides a significant benefit to those wishing to support the District Foundation, offering a convenient payment method to those who otherwise might have to put off membership.”

Swiping a credit or debit card (debit cards are accepted in addition to credit cards) now speeds paying Foundation dues, a benefit frequently requested by members. In addition, buyers at Foundation-sponsored or related events, such as silent auctions, can also take advantage of plastic payments.

“The expense of processing credit and debit cards pales in comparison to the benefits,” according to Warren Spencer, Foundation Vice-president.

Minimal equipment and processing expenses will allow Foundation projects and events unprecedented monetary flexibility. And Kiwanians can now decide between instant and deferred payment.

Look for increased visibility of credit card convenience at future district events, and decide for yourself if plastic is the word for you.
